Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use this site — including people using a screen reader, a keyboard only, magnification, or a device with a small screen.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA and the European standard EN 301 549, which is what the European Accessibility Act requires. We do not claim the micro-enterprise exemption: an organisation working for children’s rights should not exclude people from its own website.

What works today

  • The whole site can be used with a keyboard alone.
  • There is a “skip to main content” link.
  • Focus is always visible, and never hidden behind fixed elements.
  • Animations are switched off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • The AI assistant can be opened, used and closed entirely by keyboard, and announces new messages to screen readers.
  • Forms have real labels and describe errors in text, not only colour.

Known problems

We would rather tell you what is not finished than claim we are perfect. As of the date below, we know about the following:

  • Some older articles imported from the CMS have images without descriptive alternative text. We are working through them.
  • Parts of the site are only available in English. Swedish translations are in progress.
  • Some decorative brand colours do not meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio and are being replaced for anything that carries text.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this site stops you from doing what you came to do, please email team@marianco.org and describe what happened and which page you were on. We will reply within five working days and tell you what we are going to do.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can report the issue to the supervisory authority responsible for the Swedish accessibility legislation.

How this was assessed

Self-assessment using automated testing (axe and Lighthouse) and manual testing with keyboard navigation and a screen reader (VoiceOver). An independent review is planned.
