About Marianco
We work to protect children from trafficking and exploitation, so that they have somewhere safe to grow up and a way back when that has been taken from them.
Our story
Marianco was founded by Francisco Padilla, who grew up on the streets of Cartagena, Colombia. His mother, Maria, was a child when she was first sold in the slums of that city. The organisation carries her name.
We work against child trafficking, documented child sexual abuse and the commercial sexual exploitation of children. We support every child who comes to us, and we take particular care with children under fifteen.
The organisation was started by people who were not willing to keep watching. What we do is unglamorous and specific: prevention where children are recruited, support for the adults around them, and pressure on the systems that are supposed to protect them.
Our mission
To protect children from trafficking through prevention, support and rehabilitation, and to keep working on the conditions that make a child reachable in the first place.
Safety
Every child should be able to feel safe. We work on the places where that breaks down first, the journey to school, the home under pressure, the account nobody is watching.
Dignity
We treat every person, and every child, as someone with a say in what happens to them. Nobody is defined by the worst thing that has happened to them.
Empowerment
Communities protect children better than outsiders can. We give teachers, families and neighbours the knowledge and the resources to do it.
Justice
We push for accountability and for laws that hold. A case that ends in nothing teaches an entire community that reporting is pointless.

Arbetar för mänskliga rättigheter, med lösningar som hämtar från statsvetenskap, sociologi och juridik.

Marknadsförare
Arbetar med strategisk kommunikation och digital marknadsföring, och bygger kampanjer som stödjer arbetet med att skydda barn.

HR-specialist
Arbetar med hur teamet stöttas och växer, så att människor orkar stanna kvar i ett svårt arbete längre än ett år.
